White

This week's theme at iheartfaces is white. I decided to use one of the pics I took of my nephew recently while I was watching him and my studio was already set up for a different session, so I figured we would take advantage of it. He is five and I love this one, because we were just goofing around and I told him to be silly. So he got up and jumped around like a monkey. It was funny and I just LOVE his face, smile, his spiderman-like hands, all the way down to the holes in his jeans.

I took my camera out to get some shots of my little boy playing in the heat and water on July 4th. He LOVES water! I just love watching him get a thrill out of playing in it. :) Here is my water shot for my iheartfaces water theme this week. Motherhood

I've been super busy lately and haven't been able to do many challenges, but I didn't want to miss out on this week's iheartfaces photo challenge: Motherhood. I took this picture on Saturday of my sister-in-law and my sweet little six month old nephew. I remember when my son gave kisses like this and it's probably one of the best things EVER! I just love baby kisses. Of course, at this age baby kisses are more like baby eating your face, but that's what's so amazing about it. Too sweet!!

A Touch of Spring

This week's Theme Thursday is A Touch of Spring and a new challenge, Be Inspired's theme is also Spring. 

I took some photos at the end of March and I thought one of those would be a great entry for these. Spring had begun... but had it really? My magnolia tree in the back yard was blooming, and yet it was snowing out.
A little different shot of spring, but the snow adds a little something extra. Plus, it shows you what the weather in Kansas is like. One day, it's beautiful, and the next day, it's snowing. :o) 

I am currently trying out a trial of Lightroom and deciding if it's something I want. This is the first photo that I am posting that I have edited in Lightroom. Nothing fancy, just basic stuff.

The last few days

In the past I have wanted to get pictures of the moon and have been unsuccessful. I read some info on how to and couldn't wait to get out and try to get some shots. I waited til the next clear sky came and got out to get some practice. Of course, since then I totally missed the beautiful full moon, but at least while I was practicing, I got a decent shot of a partial moon. 

A while back, we had fun playing at the park and going through tunnels. This is my take on The Paper Mama's them for her current week's challenge: SURPRISE.

This past Theme Thursday's theme was WATER. Here is the pic I took on Thursday waiting in the car to go into my niece's school to visit her and take her class some treats.

I got some great pics of a field burning along the highway on one of our many trips to Wichita. I call this one Deer in the Flames. Can you see it?

a slice of my weekend

This weekend we took a little trip to stay with the grandparents and go see one of my husband's best friend's band (7 Year Itch) play. We appreciated two nights out of the house, while the grandparents watched our little one. Friday night, I took my camera with me and practiced shooting in the dark without the flash. It was fun and I got some fun pics. I took some color pics and I played around with my Monochromatic setting on my camera as well. This picture has not I will be posting more pics later on, but here is just a little slice of our life from this weekend.

iPhoneology

This is my first time participating in an iPhoneology challenge or as I would like to call it, an androidology challenge. I guess we are just supposed to post pics taken on our phone. I figured I would post some pics of what I tend to take the most pics of: my sleeping child. :)

Theme Thursday: Active

We went bowling yesterday and I got a shot of my sister-in-law in action. I thought it was kind of a cool pic and thought it fit the theme.

Sun Flare

I went outside and took some pics of my little boy today in the beautiful weather. I figured it was a great time to practice some sun flare pictures and get one to submit for the iheartfaces challenge. I took some other pics too and would love your feedback. I don't know a whole lot about taking sun flare pics. I didn't do really anything in post-processing.

Sun flare shots

This week's challenge over at iheartfaces is sun flare. So I took my little boy and my camera outside in the beautiful weather we are having today and tried to get some sun flare shots. 

Here are some of the shots I took. The last one is the one I am submitting for the challenge.
These are all SOOC shots. If you have any CC on what I should do in post-processing, I would love to hear it. The only thing I did on the one I submitted was a little color enhancement. 

Best Face in February

This week's theme is another People's Choice Photo Challenge: Best Face in February. Since I took my son's one year photos in February, I thought it would be nice to use one of his photos. It's up close and personal. I love that you can see his frizzy curls. I love those curls!

Fix it Friday #89

I played around with this week's Fix it Friday a little more than usual, so I have a couple different edits below.

First edit - I don't believe you should crop images if you don't need to, so I left this one, just polished up the colors a little bit.

Second edit - Had some fun removing the color. Here is a sepia version.

Third edit - cropped and given a BW green/blue tint

Fourth - My favorite crop. I just love seeing faces close up! I played with the colors a little bit and popped the eyes a little.

Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes

This week's theme at i heart faces is Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes.

Instead of focusing on faces this week, you are supposed to on another body part, of course while keeping it family friendly. :o)

This picture is from one of my newborn shoots. It is one of my favorites. I just think it is so sweet.

cell phone pic

This week's theme over at iheartfaces is cell phones. We are to post pics taken with our cell phones. 

I take pics almost daily (and sometimes hourly) on my phone. I like to send them to my husband while he's at work, so he can see what my son and I are up to, and then of course, I often like to Facebook them, too. :o)

If my husband is around when I am preparing to submit for the i<3faces challenge, I always like to get his opinion on his choice after I have narrowed down my favorites. 

This week he chose the following one. Although, I really LOVE the other one, I went ahead and went with this one. I took it this last week at my son's one year well child check-up. 

After measuring my son's head and length, the nurse gave him the tape measure to play with. She never got it back. He played and played with it. I snapped this shot because I thought he was just too cute (I know, I'm biased) standing there in just a diaper and a measuring tape. He looks like a little tailor. 

How can you not love your job as a SAHM, when you get to spend your days with this?

I find myself continually thinking about how I can't believe it's been year already...

And yes, that's my ONE year old, wearing size 5 diapers, weighing in at 30 pounds and I love every one!
